In doctrinally open meetings, Friends,
whether theist or nontheist or anything else, are under no obligation
to explain or justify their beliefs. When and how we talk about our
Quakerism depends on the particular situations as they unfold. Letting
the rest of our lives speak is an option.Tolerance is the key word towards each other and society.
Although it's sometimes useful to talk about where we're at with our understandings (and what we say will depend on the context, as you say), I think the openness of Quaker meetings is really important in giving people space to change their minds.
